Kerala is the one of the place, where natural scenery is filled up. Kerala also known for the traditional temples and its construction.There are many important temples in kerala to visit in lifetime.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple:

  • This temple is dedicated to the god Vishnu.
  • It is located in Thiruvananthapuram. It's construction is in complicated fusion of  Kerala and Dravidian style.  
  • This temple is one of the richest Hindu temple because of its gold assets and precious stones.These assets are stored in underground vaults.There are 8 vaults in the temple.
  • Famous festival of this temple is Alpashy festival in October/November,Panguni festival in March/April. Panguni festival lasts for 10 days.
  • The most famous festival in this temple is Laksha deepam which means lakh of deepams .This is held 6 years once. 
Guruvayur Temple:

  • This temple is dedicated to the god Lord Krishna.
  • It is located in Guruvayur,Thrissur district.In this temple a pond is available called Rudratheertham in northern side.
  • There is a strict dress code. Men should wear Mundu only should not use shirts,they are allowed to use small cloth over their chest. Women and girls should wear sari, shalwar kameez,long skirt.
  • Temple opens at 3 AM and 5 poojas are conducted a day.
  • Here people also gives the things whatever they able equal to their weight(thula baram) to fulfill their prayer.
  • Important festival is Krishna Janmashtami
Vadakkunnathan Temple:
  • This temple is dedicated to the god Lord Shiva.
  • It is Located in Thrissur. This temple is famous for mural paintings and kuttambalam carved in woods.
  • Lord shiva is in the form of huge lingam covered with ghee formed by daily ghee abhishekam for many years. This is the only temple where lingam is not visible. The ghee does not melt even during summer also it does not give foul odor.
  • The important festival in this temple is Maha shivaratri and Aanayootu (feeding of elephant).
Kadampuzha Devi Temple:
  • This temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga.
  • Located in Kadampuzha pilgrimage center,Malappuram district.
  • Here two rituals are conducted Poomoodal and Muttarukkal. Poomoodal is covering the deity with fresh flowers and muttarukkal is the breaking of coconuts into 2 equal halves.
  • Plastic bags are not allowed inside the temple. Coconuts only allowed to carry in non plastic bags.
  • Best day to visit is Tuesday,Friday and Sunday, Annadaana is made everyday at the temple.
  • The important festival is Karthikai day in November to December month.
Thirumandhamkunna Temple:
  • This temple is dedicated to the goddess Thirumanthamkunnilamma.
  • Located in Angadipuram in Malappuram district.It is the pilgrimage center.
  • Important religious offering in the temple are Mangalya puja,Rigveda Laksharchana,Chandattam,Kalampattu.
  • Mangalya puja is mainly offered for the unmarried people.
  • The annual festival of this temple is Thirumandhamkunnu Pooram celebrated for 11 day long.In this Aarattu is the beautiful one which is the bathing ceremony of Devi.
Ananthapura Lake Temple:

  • This temple is dedicated to the god Ananthapadmanaba Swami.
  • Located in little village Ananthapura,Kasaragod district. This temple is in the middle of the lake.
  • There is a believe that only one crocodile live at the lake, if it is died another one crocodile appears on the lake.
  • Sanctum is made by rare combination of 70 medicinal things called Kadu-Sharkara-Yogam.
  • Wood carving in the mandapam depict the story of dasaavatharam.
  • All casts and religious are allowed in this temple.
Padiyanoor Devi Temple:

  • This temple is dedicated to the goddess Chamundi Devi(padiyanoor devi).
  • Located in Poovachal,Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Festivals conducted in this temple are Karthika,Mandala vratham,Pooja vaypu,Aayilya pooja,Aishwarya pooja,Vishu Kani.
  • The annual festival of the temple is Makam Thozal in the Malayalam month of Meenam for 3 days.
Thirunelli Maha Vishnu Temple:
  • This temple is dedicated to the god Maha Vishnu.
  • Located in Brahmagiri hill 32 km away from Manathavady.
  • Papanasi is located 1 km away from the temple.One dip in this cold water removes all sins committed in lifetime.
  • Here Devotees can perform all the rituals related to the death and birth.
  • Opening time is 5.30 a.m to 12.00 p.m and 5.30 p.m to 8.00 pm.
Vaikom Mahadeva Temple:
  • Dedicted to the god Lord shiva(Vaikkathappan).
  • Located in Vaikom,Kottayam district,
  • Here there is a belief that if devotees worships before Ucha pooja all wishes are fulfilled.
  • In this temple pooja is not broken since inception.
  • Important festival in this temple is Vaikkath Asthami held in November-December.It lasts for 12 days.
Chottanikkara Devi Temple:

  • Dedicated to the goddess Bhagavathi.
  • Located in Chottanikkara near Ernakulam.This temple is famous for the wooden sculpture.
  • Goddess Bhagavathi worshiped in three forms:Morning as Saraswati,Noon as Lakshmi,Evening as Durga.
  • People suffered by mental problems mostly visit this temple,there is a belief Bhagavathi amma will cure this.
  • No one should miss the Guruthi pooja held at late evening and early morning.
  • Here people suffered by evil spirit are taken to the priest and the hair of the suffered people is taken and tied in the temple tree,so that evil will leave them.While going home Neem leaf,lemon and chilli are taken to ward off the evil spirit.
  • Tuesday and Friday are the important days of the temple.
  • The famous festival is Makam Thozhal.

Kodungallur Bagavathi Temple:

  • Dedicated to goddess Bhagavathi(Bhadrakali)with eight hands.
  • Located in Kodungallur,Thrissur district.
  • There are two festivals celebrated in this temple. 
  • Bharani Festival: It takes place at the month March-April(Meenam) and lasts for 7 days.Two events are in this festival,Kozhikallu Moodal and Kavu Theendal.
  • Thalappoli Festival:Held at the month January-February(Makaram).This is 4 day festival starts at evening of Makara Sankranthi.
Attukal Bagavathi Temple:
  • Dedicated to the goddess Kannaki.
  • Located in Attukal.
  • This goddess is mainly worshiped by women.
  • The main festival is Attukal Pongala. It starts in the month February-March and lasts for 10 days
  • Women only allowed in this Pongala rituals. 
Ambalappuzha Sri Krishna Temple:

  • Located in Ambalapuzha,Alapuzha district.
  • Ambalapuzha palpayasam is very famous among the hindu devotees.It is made by rice and Milk and it has a believe Guruvayurappan come to have this palpayasam daily.
  • The annual festival is Chambakulam Moolam Water.
  • Pallipana was performed by velans once in 12 years.
Meenkulathi Bagavathi Amman Temple:

  • Meenkulathikavu located in Pallassena,Palakkad district,it is the oldest temple.
  • This temple is constructed in the way that shadow of the wall never falls on the ground.This temple has 2 entrances north and west side.
  • This temple had a tank,if devotees took bath in this tank then they will get rid from the diseases.
  • Navarathri,Mandala vilaku,Karthigai,Maasi thiruvizha(8 days),Pallivettai,Bhairava pooja are the festivals of this temple.
